Nikola Jokic makes NBA history in Denver Nuggets win over Memphis Grizzlies

Image
Nikola Jokic   became the first player in   NBA   history to register 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 500 assists in a single season as a 122-109 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies saw the Denver Nuggets secure a   playoff   spot on Thursday. As far as good days at the office go, they don't come much more perfect than that of the Serb -- sporting a bright red headband -- who led scoring with 35 points on his landmark night, adding 16 rebounds and six assists. The reigning MVP's headwear was donned after an accidental elbow from Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr. in the opening minute of the game, as TV images showed blood pouring from a gash on his head. Jokic had initially returned to the court, but as blood continued to flow, he went back to the bench to be fitted with the headband. The rest, quite literally, was history. Jokic clinched the feat with just over five minutes left, driving to the basket before spinning and looping a shot towards the basket -- the ball bouncin

NBA play-in tournament: Timberwolves 7th in West, host Clippers

MINNEAPOLIS - Anthony Edwards scored a career-high 49 points Thursday night as the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the San Antonio Spurs 127-121 for their 46th win of the season. The late moments of regulation got a little too close for comfort, with Edwards on the floor and his teammates trying to get him shots to get to 50 points. The Timberwolves led 123-11 with a little more than a minute to play, but the Spurs got within four points before Wolves finished off the win. The Timberwolves entered the night needing wins over the Spurs and Chicago Bulls to end the season, and the Denver Nuggets to lose to Memphis Grizzlies and L.A. Lakers, to jump to the No. 6 spot and avoid the play-in series for the NBA Playoffs. That didn’t happen. The Nuggets beat the Grizzlies 122-109, and are a half game behind the Utah Jazz for the No. 5 spot with one game left. Denver’s win made it official that the Timberwolves will be the No. 7 seed, and will host the L.A. Clippers next Tuesday night in a play-in

Aspiring NBA Agent Asks to Revive Suit Against Players’ Union

A would-be NBA players’ agent asked the Sixth Circuit to reinstate his claims against the National Basketball Players Association, saying it’s “plausible” that a “reasonable person” would believe the union conspired with the league to bar him from representing players. The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio erred when it found the claims barred under the labor exemption to antitrust laws, plaintiff Rosel Hurley III told the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit Wednesday. The union isn’t eligible for an exemption from the antitrust laws because it conspired with the league—a non-union member—"to boycott appellant from taking the NBPA agent exam,” he told the court. According to the union, Hurley’s application was rejected due to his past criminal history and law license suspensions. The NBPA initially approved his application, but revoked the approval two days before the exam, citing information he included on the application, Hurley said. The NBPA then p

Draymond Green Reveals Shocking Pick For 2022 NBA MVP

During this final stretch of the NBA regular season, the MVP race has been the biggest discussion among the basketball community. With three players who have a legitimate case to bring home the award, it could go down as one of the closest votes in recent history. For most people, the MVP debate has been centered around Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. These three are by far in a tier of their own, but there are other players you could build an argument for. During a recent episode of his podcast, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green chimed in on who he feels should come away with the hardware. His choice was none of the suggested frontrunners. Instead, Green went with Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker. “For my criteria, Devin Booker is the MVP of the NBA. As consistent as he’s been, he’s faced injuries, he’s come back, hasn’t missed a beat. Their team has continued to win, they’re leading the NBA, in first place by a longshot. Gotta go with Devin Booker as
